Sesame Seed, Almond, and Honey Cone

Serves 12

Ingredients:

  • 4 1/2 C. (1 lb.) all purpose flour
  • 1 c. sesame seeds, plus 1/4 c. toasted sesame seeds
  • 1 1/2 c. blanched almonds, finely ground
  • 1 tsp sinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp grated nutmeg
  • 6 Tbsp unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 Tbsp liquid honey
  • Superfine sugar
  • Confectioners' sugar

Directions:

  1. Toast the flour in a large skillet over medium-low heat, stirring it constantly until it turns a lovely light brown.  Add the sesame seeds and continue stirring over medium heat until the seeds turn golden are are well mixed with the flour.  Add the almonds and spices and cook together for 2 to 3 minutes, stirring all the while.  Remove from the heat.
  2. Mix the butter and honey in a bow and gradually, with the aid of a spatula, beat in the flour mixture.  Add the supefine sugar to taste. 
  3. Place on a serving plate and form into a cone.  Decorage with toasted sesame seeds and confectioner's sugar.
