Ginger-Pear Waffles

  • 2 c flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground allspice
  • 1/4 tsp ground or freshly grated nutmeg
  • 1 c pear or apple juice
  • 3/4 c soy milk
  • 1/3 c applesauce
  • 2 Tbs canola oil
  • 4 Tbs sugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 bosc pear, grated (preferable under-ripe) 
  1. Preheat wffle iron
  2. Sift together dry ingredients (except sugar) into a large mixing bowl.
  3. In a medium bowl, mix together juice, soy mile, applesauce, oil, sugar and vanilla until well combined.
  4. Create a well in the center of the flour mixture and slowly blend the wet ingredients into the dry until combined.
  5. Fold in the grated pear.
  6. Make waffles according to instructions on waffle iron.
